Abstract

The study was carried out on administrator supervisory skills and teacher job performances in secondary

schools in Awka south local government area. The purpose of the study was to assess administrator

supervisory skills and teacher job performances in secondary schools in Awka South LGA. Two (2)

research questions were formulated to guide the study. Descriptive survey research design was used. The

area of study was Awka south local government area. The population of the study was 542 teachers and

the sample size was 200 respondents drawn using simple random sampling technique. A questionnaire

with ten (10) items was used for data collection and it was validated by 3 experts from Nnamdi Azikiwe

University Awka. The reliability of the instrument was determined using the test-retest technique. The

data obtained were analyzed using mean rating. The study found out among others that classroom

observation technique and workshop technique, influence teachers’ job performance in secondary

schools in in Awka south local government area. Based on the findings it was recommended among

others that the factors explored and supervisory techniques discussed should be considered by

administrators, while they improve their relationships with teachers to bolster job performance.
